Privacy Policy
How Vidyasetu collects, uses, and protects the personal data of students, teachers, parents, and school staff.
Last updated 17 May 2026
1.Overview
Vidyasetu ("we", "us", "our") builds an AI-powered school platform used by students, teachers, parents, and administrators. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It applies to our website, mobile apps, and admin console.
Schools that adopt Vidyasetu are the data controllers for the information of their students and staff. We act as a data processor, handling that information only on the school's instructions and under a signed agreement.
2.Information we collect
Depending on your role and how your school configures the platform, we may collect:
- Account details — name, role, email, phone number, and the school you belong to.
- Academic records — attendance, marks, assignments, timetables, and fee status, supplied by your school.
- Usage data — pages viewed, features used, device type, and approximate location derived from your IP address.
- Support content — messages, lead enquiry forms, and feedback you send us directly.
3.How we use information
We use personal data only for legitimate, education-related purposes:
- To run the platform — sign-in, personalised dashboards, the AI mentor, and notifications.
- To keep accounts secure and to detect and prevent misuse.
- To provide support and respond to enquiries.
- To improve the product through aggregated, de-identified analytics.
4.Children's and student data
Much of the data on Vidyasetu relates to children. We do not sell student data, we do not use it to build advertising profiles, and we do not train third-party advertising models on it. Student records are accessible only to the child's school, the child, and (where the school enables it) their parents or guardians.
5.Sharing and disclosure
We share personal data only with sub-processors that help us operate the platform — for example cloud hosting, push-notification, and analytics providers — each bound by confidentiality and data-protection terms. We may also disclose data where required by law. We never sell personal data.
6.Data security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access is role-based and logged, and we follow the principle of least privilege for our own staff. See our Data Residency page for where information is stored.
7.Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data. For student and staff records, please raise the request with your school, which controls that data; for website enquiries and direct correspondence, contact us using the details below. Subject to applicable law, we will action verified requests within a reasonable period.
8.Cookies and analytics
Our website uses a small number of essential cookies and privacy-respecting analytics to understand traffic. You can block cookies in your browser; essential features will still work.
9.Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be notified through the platform or by email, and the "last updated" date above will change.
